Community Guidelines
Last updated: April 30, 2026
KitabHub is a literary community built on mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and a shared love of books. These Community Guidelines apply to all users across every role — Readers, Authors, Translators, Editors, and Publishers. By using KitabHub, you agree to follow these guidelines.
1. Treat Everyone with Respect
- Be civil and courteous in all interactions, including reviews, posts, dialogues, and book club discussions.
- Disagree constructively. Criticize ideas, not people. Healthy literary debate is welcome; personal attacks are not.
- Do not harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate any user. This includes sustained negative attention, dogpiling, and coordinated campaigns against individuals.
- Respect the privacy of others. Do not share personal information about other users without their consent.
2. Be Authentic & Honest
- Use your real identity or a consistent pseudonym. Do not impersonate other users, public figures, authors, or organizations.
- Write genuine reviews and recommendations. Do not post fake reviews, manipulate ratings, or engage in review-bombing.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest (e.g., if you are reviewing a book you were involved in creating, translating, or publishing).
- Do not misrepresent your role, credentials, or affiliations.
3. Content Standards
All content you post on KitabHub must adhere to these standards:
- No hate speech: Content that promotes violence or discrimination against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age is strictly prohibited.
- No explicit or harmful content: Do not post sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or content that promotes self-harm or dangerous activities.
- No spam or deceptive content: Do not post repetitive, unsolicited promotional content, phishing links, or misleading information.
- Respect copyright: Only post content you own or have permission to share. Properly attribute quotes and excerpts. See our Copyright & DMCA Policy for more details.
- No illegal content: Content that violates any applicable law or regulation is prohibited.
4. Reviews & Ratings
Reviews are the heart of KitabHub. To keep them valuable for the entire community:
- Write reviews based on your genuine reading experience.
- Use spoiler warnings when discussing plot details.
- Do not post reviews for books you have not read.
- Do not coordinate with others to inflate or deflate ratings.
- Authors and publishers may not offer compensation in exchange for favorable reviews.
6. Book Clubs & Group Spaces
- Club creators and moderators are responsible for maintaining a respectful environment within their clubs.
- Clubs must comply with these Community Guidelines. Clubs that exist primarily to harass, discriminate, or violate these guidelines will be removed.
- Club moderators should address reported issues promptly or escalate them to KitabHub.
7. Reporting & Enforcement
Reporting. If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it through the in-app reporting feature or by emailing safety@kitabhub.app. All reports are reviewed by our team and treated confidentially.
Enforcement. Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- A warning and request to modify or remove the content.
- Temporary suspension of your account or specific features.
- Permanent removal of content.
- Permanent termination of your account for severe or repeated violations.
We strive to enforce these guidelines consistently and fairly. Enforcement decisions are made at our discretion and may take into account the severity, context, and history of violations.
8. Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting appeals@kitabhub.app within thirty (30) days of the action. Please include your username and a clear explanation of why you believe the decision was incorrect. We will review your appeal and respond within fifteen (15) business days.
9. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines as the Platform evolves. We will notify users of material changes through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.
