Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines what constitutes acceptable and unacceptable use of the KitabHub platform ("Platform"). This policy applies to all users, regardless of role, and supplements our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Violations of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Permitted Uses
KitabHub is designed for:
- Discovering, reviewing, and discussing books and literary works.
- Building and maintaining reading lists, journals, and libraries.
- Connecting with other readers, authors, translators, editors, and publishers.
- Participating in book clubs, dialogues, and community discussions.
- Publishing and managing literary content, catalogs, and profiles.
- Using Platform tools and features as intended and documented.
2. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Platform for any of the following purposes:
2.1 Security & System Integrity
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any account, server, network, or database associated with the Platform.
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of the Platform or any connected system without written authorization.
- Introducing malware, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, ransomware, or any other malicious or harmful code.
- Launching denial-of-service (DoS or DDoS) attacks or attempting to overload Platform infrastructure.
- Bypassing, disabling, or interfering with security features, rate limits, authentication mechanisms, or access controls.
2.2 Data & Scraping
- Scraping, crawling, or harvesting data from the Platform using automated tools, bots, or scripts without prior written consent.
- Collecting or storing personal information of other users without their explicit consent.
- Using the Platform to build competing datasets or products.
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Platform or its APIs.
2.3 Spam & Manipulation
- Sending bulk unsolicited messages, promotions, or advertisements.
- Creating multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, reviews, followers, or any other metric.
- Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to artificially inflate engagement metrics.
- Coordinating with others to manipulate search results, trending lists, or recommendations.
2.4 Fraud & Deception
- Impersonating any person, organization, or entity.
- Providing false or misleading information in your profile, role credentials, or content.
- Engaging in phishing, social engineering, or other fraudulent schemes.
- Using the Platform to facilitate financial fraud, money laundering, or any illegal transaction.
2.5 Intellectual Property
- Uploading, posting, or distributing content that infringes the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
- Reproducing, distributing, or publicly displaying copyrighted books, manuscripts, or translations without authorization.
- Using KitabHub's branding, logos, or intellectual property without prior written consent.
2.6 Harmful Activities
- Using the Platform to promote, plan, or facilitate violence, terrorism, or illegal activities.
- Posting content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or substance abuse.
- Exploiting or endangering minors in any way.
- Using the Platform to stalk, dox, or expose personal information of any individual.
3. Rate Limits & Fair Use
To ensure a fair and reliable experience for all users, KitabHub enforces rate limits on API requests and certain Platform features. You agree not to:
- Exceed published rate limits or attempt to circumvent them.
- Use the Platform in a manner that degrades performance for other users.
- Consume excessive bandwidth or storage disproportionate to normal use.
4. Monitoring & Enforcement
KitabHub reserves the right to monitor use of the Platform to ensure compliance with this AUP. We may, at our sole discretion:
- Investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement when required.
- Remove or disable content that violates this AUP.
- Suspend or terminate accounts that violate this AUP, with or without prior notice.
- Report illegal activities to appropriate authorities.
5. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it to us immediately at abuse@kitabhub.app. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
