Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 30, 2026

KitabHub is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Literature belongs to all people, and we believe the tools to discover, discuss, and share it should be equally available to everyone.

1. Our Commitment

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

2. Accessibility Measures

KitabHub takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and ARIA attributes to ensure content is navigable by assistive technologies.
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Users can navigate the Platform without a mouse.
  • Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Text alternatives: Images include descriptive alt text. Icons that convey meaning are labeled for screen readers.
  • Responsive design: The Platform adapts to different screen sizes and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Focus management: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements. Focus order follows a logical sequence.
  • RTL support: KitabHub supports right-to-left (RTL) text direction for Arabic, Hebrew, and other RTL languages, reflecting our commitment to serving the global literary community.
  • Reduced motion: We respect the "prefers-reduced-motion" setting for users who are sensitive to animation.

3. Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations as we continue to improve:

  • Some older user-generated content (e.g., images uploaded without alt text) may not be fully accessible.
  • Third-party embedded content (e.g., authentication provider modals) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards.
  • Complex interactive components (e.g., the world map in Publisher Intelligence) are being progressively enhanced for screen reader compatibility.

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across the entire Platform.

4. Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

KitabHub is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
  • Screen magnification software.
  • Speech recognition software.
  • Keyboard-only navigation.
  • Switch devices and alternative input methods.

The Platform is tested with modern versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers.

5. Feedback & Reporting Barriers

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of KitabHub. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include:

  • The page or feature where you encountered the issue.
  • The assistive technology and browser you were using.
  • A description of the barrier you experienced.

We will acknowledge your report within five (5) business days and work to resolve the issue as promptly as possible.

6. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We are committed to:

  • Conducting regular accessibility audits of new and existing features.
  • Including accessibility requirements in our development process.
  • Training our team on accessibility best practices.
  • Engaging with the disability community to understand their needs.
  • Updating this statement as we make progress.
